I am a third-year university student, trying to make a name for myself in the industry. I do photography at university.
How long have you been a photographer? When did you start?
Around 5 years – starting before college and growing.
What camera(s) do you currently shoot with?
Canon R7
What makes a “professional photographer” in your opinion?
Being accredited in the industry and creating work to a high level.
What was your first paid photography gig?
A wedding from someone local.
What was your first paid sports photography gig?
Stockport County FC
What was one of your favorite events/competitions/games/matches that you shot?
Stockport County – when they got promoted. I got asked to do some fan pictures and match pictures when they got promoted and became champions for the league, getting asked made me feel recognized and [that] my work is good.
Awesome! Onto my favorite topic, photo editing- haha. Do you do your own photo editing?
Yes
Do you like photo editing? Why or why not?
I think it also shows your creative side – I enjoy how you can change or highlight certain aspects in photographs.
What photography jobs do you have coming up that you are excited about?
Hopefully, I will work at Manchester United.
That will be SO COOL! I hope that works out for you. What kinds of non-sports-related photo jobs do you take?
I work as a waitress part-time and if there are any other photography opportunities I am open to doing them.
What is a topic related to photography in general, or more specifically sports photography, that you are really passionate about?
Women in the industry and women in football are some of my biggest passions (what I am doing my degree show about)
Who were/are your mentors?
Lecturers at university, really.
What would be an event/competition/game that you would love to shoot someday?
Champions League final
What sport have you not shot yet that you would love to shoot?
Rugby
